Police investigate drowning in South Glens Falls

South Glens Falls Police are investigating the reported drowning of an 80-year-old fisherman in the Hudson River.

Police were called to the canoe launch at the end of River Street by the Coopers Cave Bridge around noon on Sunday afternoon.


It’s unclear how the victim ended up in the water, but, when officers arrived on scene volunteer firefighters were already attempting CPR. 

The man was pronounced dead two hours later at the Glens Falls Hospital. The fisherman's wife was on scene at the time.
