South Troy pool remains closed as Labor Day quickly approaches

TROY - The swimming pool in South Troy remains closed as we head into Labor Day weekend.

NewsChannel 13 has been following this story since December of 2016 when budget cuts first threatened to shut down the city pools.

In May of 2017, the pools shut down.

Despite promises of opening this summer, the gates are still locked.

The city pool closed for repairs two years ago and it's still not finished.

On June 28 of this year, Mayor Patrick Madden promised it would reopen this summer.

In July, the Boys & Girls Club opened their pool to city residents.

NewsChannel 13 has seen work being done.

While people seem to realize the complexity of the project and appreciate the long hours work crews have been putting in, they are beyond frustrated it's taking so long.

City officials say they will give an update on the progress on Friday.
