Man turns himself in after a nearly 6-hour standoff

SCHENECTADY - A man was arrested Monday night after a five-hour incident in Schenectady. 

Upon arriving at the scene, police were told that a male may have barricaded himself inside the residence and could have a firearm in his possession.

The resident was kept under supervision. Periodically, officers made the effort to speak with the man through loudspeakers. Residents were inside the upstairs apartment. Police were able to communicate with them, giving direction on where to stay. 

Daniel Keary, 35, turned himself over to the Schenectady Police Department and was transported to a local medical facility for evaluation. 

Multiple weapons and ammunition were found in the residence after a search warranted was executed by detectives.
