State senator requests 'pardon' for Troy dog on death row

December 13, 2018 12:52 PM

State Senator Jim Tedisco is asking the governor to pardon a dog.

Luna, a dog in Troy, was ordered to be euthanized for biting a neighbor's dog. However, the outcry over that decision has given Luna a brief reprieve and caused the city of Troy to ease its dangerous dog laws.

The trouble is the new law does not grandfather-in Luna's case. Tedisco appealed to Governor Cuomo on Thursday morning to step in and use his constitutional power to issue a pardon and save Luna's life.
For now, Luna is being cared for at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands.

NewsChannel 13 will be reaching out to the governor. If he has a response, we will bring it to you as soon as we get it.
