State senator renews calls for stronger animal cruelty legislation

There's a renewed push for tougher animal cruelty laws, after a horrific case of animal abuse out of Berne.

As NewsChannel 13 has been reporting, a border collie named Duke was shot twice and left in a ditch to die.

David and Beth Packard are facing charges in Dukes's death.

State Senator Jim Tedisco lobbied more than a decade ago to have animal cruelty legislation put in place following another case of animal abuse.

Buster's Law has been paramount in changing the way punishment looks like in New York regarding these cases.
However, Tedesco says current laws are still not enough.
