State trooper dies from 9/11-related illness

A state trooper has died from a 9/11 related illness.

Michael Anson, 56, spent 31 years with the New York State Police. He was assigned to help with search and recovery at the World Trade Center.

Anson served his entire career in Troop G, which covers a large portion of the Capital Region. That includes time as a school resource officer in Averill Park and Brunswick. He also helped with training.

Anson leaves behind a wife, three kids and his brothers.
