Investigators made the arrest after a complaint was made by the Rensselaerville Town Board. The town's finances were reviewed by an accounting firm and they noticed money was missing. Members say Pfleging wrote checks for nearly $13,000 from the town's checking account to himself.

NewsChannel 13 was at a Town Board meeting Thursday night in Rensselaerville, held to inform the public about the issue.

Pfleging has resigned. The town says it will now hire an outside payroll service.
