Study finds teens who abuse prescription pills are more likely to use heroin

A new study finds teens who abuse prescription pills are at a higher risk of using heroin.    

Researchers at the University of Southern California followed nearly 3,300 students throughout high school.

Those who used opioids to get high during the first few years of high school were more likely to start using heroin by the time they graduated.    

That’s compared to teens who were not taking prescription pills but had later used heroin.
