Summer Smith 5K Addiction Awareness Memorial Run gathers massive support

GUILDERLAND -- The 3rd Annual Summer Smith 5K Run was held Saturday honoring Summer Smith, a mother who lost a 12 year battle with addiction in 2015. 

The run is intended to raise awareness on drug addiction and reduce the stigma associated with it.

Participants arrived at Guilderland High School. Children and pets were welcomed. 

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Addiction Care Center of Albany for education and prevention, the YWCA, and Friends of Recovery Albany.
