COLONIE -   According to the owner of a store hit by thieves, a News Channel 13 Picture of the Incident led to a tip to police.

The store owner from Colonie Center fell victim to thieves and it's all caught on camera. She says it's not just that her money was stolen, but how the people did it.

It wasn't merchandise stolen from Artique Co-Op – it was an employee's wallet. The wallet contained a ton of cash, credit cards and personal information.

What the women who appear to be behind this likely did not realize – their every move in that store was caught on about nine cameras.

The store staff believes one woman and the two kids who were with the duo distracted the worker. They were creating chaos all over the store – dropping things and asking questions, while the other woman went behind the counter and stole the employee's wallet. It had $800 cash, plus several gift cards.

"The money's gone, credit cards are cancelled. I'm moving on with that, but I just want these photos out there. These kids were with them and my heart breaks for that alone. I just want these people caught so it doesn't happen to somebody else," explained Sherry Ebert with Artique Co-Op at Colonie Center.

The storeowner has passed out their pictures to everyone at the mall. Other employees say they recognize the duo. Colonie Police confirm they received a name this evening. They will investigate to determine if the woman identified is the same woman in the surveillance video and, if warranted, make an arrest.

Colonie police want to hear from you if you recognize the women in the photos or fell victim to a similar crime. You can reach them at (518) 783-2811.
