A third person has now been arrested, bringing the number of teens to three accused of attacking a trooper during the Fourth of July celebration at the Empire State Plaza.

State police tell NewsChannel 13 the trooper saw one of them try to light a Roman candle near a crowd and tried to stop it.

Investigators say the 18-year-old resisted arrest and punched the officer in the face. Another teen also got involved in the scuffle. A third teen was charged with reckless endangerment.

Police eventually took them into custody after a brief struggle. Two troopers were treated for minor injuries.
