Dog owner arrested after animal found in abandoned home

A dog is found living in an abandoned home and its owner is now under arrest.

Sheriff's deputies say Thomas Fake surrendered the dog after it was found in the empty house on Route 20 in Carlisle.

Deputies say the animal had been living in the home for several years in deplorable conditions, with no access to the outside or to medical care.

The dog is at the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley.

Fake is charged with animal cruelty.
