Identity released of driver in fatal Watervliet crash

Watervliet police have released the identity of the driver killed in a crash on July 3.

They say 29-year-old Timothy Bynes of Savannah, Georgia was operating the Hyundai Sonata that slammed into a house and caught fire.

They also say his body was burned beyond recognition and any identification Bynes was carrying was destroyed by the fire.

The state police lab had to use DNA to confirm his identity.
