Tractor trailer hits state police car on Thruway

KINGSTON - A tractor trailer crashed into two cars on the side of the Thruway in Kingston. One of them was a state police car.

Police say Trooper Thomas Hanigan was trying to help two people from Albany change a tire when it happened Wednesday afternoon.

The trooper and a passenger in the car, 46-year-old Juana Herrera, were treated and released at Kingston Hospital.

The driver of the car, 56-year-old Alejandro Espinosa, was able to jump out of harm's way.

The tractor trailer driver, 54-year-old Michael Audit of Quebec, was ticketed. He was not hurt.
