Troy City Council agrees to waive pool fees

TROY- Even though the South Troy pool is not yet ready, when and if it is, the council says that residents won't have to pay. In a unanimous vote Thursday night, the Troy City Council agreed to waive pool fees for residents in 2019.

Mayor Patrick Madden made a push to open the pool during an address in February. Then, in late April, NewsChannel-13 was the first to show you the work being done on the South Troy Pool. The administration still had a goal of opening by July 1. However, contractors found more and more complications and setbacks and now it won't open until next month at the earliest, City Hall said.

Thursday night, the city's Finance Committee first agreed and then the city council followed, that people who live in the city should be able to go the pool for free when and if it finally does open this summer.
