TROY - Construction crews in Troy are working to hopefully get the South Troy pool back open for the summertime.

The city of Troy says Mayor Patrick Madden, the city engineer and Assemblyman John McDonald were working to take a look at the beginnings of possibly reopening the pool.

Back in February, the city announced it would try to reopen the South Troy Pool and begin taking bids in this project in March.

Repair and renovation was part of the 2019 budget, plus some grant money to get the pool back in time for summer.

The South Troy Pool and the Lansingburgh Pool were closed in 2017 after an engineering assessment found significant structural and safety concerns. City Hall said they just didn't have the money to open the pools. Since then, they have used spray pools, or bussed kids elsewhere to cool off.
