The city of Troy will pay $1.3 million to a woman who was injured while trespassing on city-owned property.

According to the Times Union, 20-year-old Victoria Brothers fell off a ledge at the former Leonard Hospital while watching fireworks in 2016.

The City Council approved the settlement Thursday night, after Corporation Counsel James Caruso told them going to trial could cost up to $5 million.

This is the second time someone has been injured while trespassing at the former hospital, which closed 20 years ago and is now scheduled for demolition.
