It was a slower than usual morning commute Monday morning near Freeman's Bridge. A truck burst into flames just before 7 a.m. off Freeman's Bridge Road on Tryon Avenue.

The driver said he saw a small glow under the hood, stopped, and tried to put it out with a blanket. Then he ran to a nearby nursing home to get a fire extinguisher.

By that time it was too late.

He thinks some dry leaves ignited.

Glenville police and firefighters from Thomas Corners responded. They put it out with water and foam.

No one was hurt, but the 2001 Dodge was destroyed.
