Ninety-three television stations across the country will start airing the national anthem every day.

The stations are all owned by Gray Media Group – which does not own any stations in the Capital Region.

Playing the national anthem used to be traditional among many TV stations when they signed on and signed off. However, the tradition faded as TV stations started staying on for 24 hours every day.

The stations' lineup will begin to feature the patriotic addition on June 18. It will be sung by Reina Özbay, a 9-year-old singer from Florida, as patriotic displays flash across the screen.
