The Postal Service is seeking a temporary exemption from the vaccine or testing mandate.

USPS argues the waiver could prevent major disruptions to mail delivery.

This request comes just days before the Biden Administration’s rule is set to take effect, and as the Omicron variant sidelines workers in many parts of the economy.

The mandate requires employees in organizations with more than 100 workers either be vaccinated against COVID-19, or be tested weekly and be subject to stricter mask rules.

USPS vowed to maintain its own COVID mitigation policies while the request is reviewed.
