Ceremony, push-ups mark end of Run for Fallen

The annual "Run for the Fallen" ended Sunday. It wound up a three-day, 146-mile trek from Syracuse to Albany's Lafayette Park. Veterans, Gold Star Families and supportive runners gathered Sunday afternoon outside City Hall.
As part of the ceremony, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan did 22 push-ups with others to mark the 22 Veteran suicides that occur daily.
Over 1,900 Veterans have died in the Capital Region since WWI marked by the American flags displayed along Route-9 in Colonie.
Photos by Gene Loparco. On Tuesday, Loparco and his “Please Remember Me” efforts will be honored by Albany County Executive Dan McCoy for Military Awareness Awards. Additionally, retired attorney, public defender and Vietnam Veteran Terry Kindlon and Nils Mockler, a U.S. Marine (Ret.) and Combat Intelligence Scout, 4th Marine Division, Tank Battalion at Iwo Jima.
