Split verdict in Schenectady assault, attempted murder trial

A Schenectady man is found guilty of assault, but not guilty of attempted murder.

A jury deliberated for more than a day before reaching the split verdict against Victor Marin.

Prosecutors say Marin fired several shots at the corner of Albany and Hulett streets in September of last year.

He did not hit his intended target, but did shoot a 15-year-old boy in the ankle.

Marin fled to Florida, where he was captured by U.S. Marshals.
