NewsChannel 13 salutes Army Air Corps Staff Sergeant Joseph Jamro of Schenectady.

The World War II vet was a B-24 Tail Gunner who flew 47 bombing missions.

He was shot down and captured as a POW in August 1944.

He received two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, the NYS Conspicuous Service Cross and the Air Medal.

He's a father of two, grandfather of four and great-grandfather of two -- and will turn 97 years old in January.
