Women representing Capital Region in National Poetry Slam

A group of women will represent Albany in the National Poetry Slam in Chicago on August 13. They are eager to showcase their poems and show the audience the type of talent Albany has to offer.

Slam poetry is a competition where poets perform spoken word. It is a movement that started in the 1980s, designed to bring poetry out of academia and into clubs and other venues for larger audiences to enjoy.

Popular in big cities, these ladies, Laura Evelyn, Liv McKee and Danielle Colin, say Albany poets can hold their own.
