Man arrested for shooting in Berkshires

A 19-year-old Pittsfield man was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection to a shooting investigation in Berkshire County.

The district attorney says Kevin Nieves has been charged with armed assault with intent to murder, illegal possession of a firearm, kidnapping, and assault and battery.

This all started when police got a 911 call reporting a shooting near Ashley Reservoir in Washington, Massachusetts around 1 a.m. Tuesday. Police say a 19-year-old man was shot.

The victim was taken to Berkshire Medical Center for surgery, where he was listed in critical condition. The district attorney would not say where on his body he was shot.

Authorities would not give any details about the scene or what type of activities typically go on in that area.
