A Moreau man is accused of throwing a 5-month-old puppy.

State police did not release many details, but say the dog's leg was broken.

Zachary Bowers, 26, faces animal cruelty charges.

Police say Bowers did not own the puppy.

He was released and is due back in court November 11.

The puppy was turned over to the SPCA.
