Advocates at state Capitol call for Aid in Dying program

ALBANY - Advocates rallied at the state Capitol on Thursday, calling on lawmakers to pass a medical Aid in Dying program here in New York.

Supporters plan to promote a personal story on every day of the legislative session between now and June 2.


They want New York to develop a program allowing terminally ill adults to request and receive a prescription for medication that they may choose to take to bring about a peaceful death.

Opponents say they worry about a lack of regulation.
