Cohoes City Council race remains tied

COHOES - A City Council race in Cohoes is still tied. A new vote is planned.

After absentee ballots were counted on Monday, the 5th Ward Democratic primary between Kathleen Donovan and Adam Biggs stands at 286 to 286.


Election law would allow Cohoes Democratic Committee Chairman Gil Ethier to pick the winner. However, Biggs said late Tuesday afternoon there will be a new vote.

There are two controversies. A poll worker let 19 people who weren't registered as Democrats vote in the primary, and Biggs is contesting one ballot, saying the voter chose him, but filled in the write-in vote bubble, making the ballot invalid.
