Gillibrand calls Troy 'awesome' when asked about campaign headquarters

TROY - Many people in the Capital Region are thrilled to hear Gillibrand is making Troy her campaign headquarters. Her team confirmed rumors that a second-floor suite in the Frear Building will serve as campaign headquarters. Gillibrand was asked why she chose the city. She says because Troy is "awesome."

Gillibrand is the third woman to announce her candidacy. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren and Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard have also thrown their hats in the ring. There are six Democrats in the running so far, and many believe there will be a large Democratic primary field in 2020.

Many people, including Governor Cuomo, have said they believe Joe Biden will be the likely nominee -- should he choose to run that is.

Gillibrand was asked on Wednesday about how she thought she would fare running against Biden and the rest of the candidates.

"Everyone is entitled to their opinions and Joe Biden is an amazing guy. I know a lot of people who love and respect him and I'm one of them," explained Gillibrand. "I think every candidate is different and we have to all speak from our hearts about who we care about, why we care and what we plan to do to make it better."

Gillibrand says she chose Troy not only because she has roots here -- she graduated from Emma Willard and now lives in Brunswick, but she says it's also because Troy is representative of renaissance communities across New York and across the country.
