Poll: Trump, health care big issues in NY's 19th congressional district
October 31, 2018 12:14 PM
The 2018 campaign season is nearing an end. There are just six days to go until voters head to the polls.
One of the hottest and closest local races is in New York's 19th Congressional District, where incumbent Republican John Faso and challenger Democrat Antonio Delgado have been slugging it out for months.
NewsChannel 13 commissioned a poll from SurveyUSA of the district to get a better look at how the race is shaping up and the issues that may affect the outcome of many races next week. More than 600 likely voters in the district were asked a variety of questions.
The gloves came off early in this race, with more negative campaign ads than ads about the issues.
We asked voters which one issue will be most important in determining how you vote in this election. The top three responses are:
- The presidency -- 26 percent
- Health care -- 25 percent
- Jobs and the economy -- 23 percent
Most voters in the 19th indicate President Trump will be a bigger consideration in how they'll vote than issues like health care, education, taxes, and the economy.
So does that bode better for Faso or Delgado? That's another of the questions we'll get into as we continue to pour over our poll results throughout the day, leading up to NewsChannel 13 Live at 6 tonight when we show you the latest numbers for all four candidates with less than a week until Election Day.
Watch for more results from the NewsChannel 13-SurveyUSA poll throughout the day and a full report tonight on NewsChannel 13 Live at 6.
