Saratoga County district attorney announces re-election bid

MALTA - Saratoga County’s district attorney is running for re-election.

Karen Heggen made it official at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Malta on Thursday.

Heggen was sworn-in as district attorney in 2014. She replaced longtime district attorney Jim Murphy, who resigned to run unopposed for county judge.

Heggen's experience also includes 23 years as an assistant district attorney.

She's being challenged by fellow Republican, Gerard Amedio.
