State lawmakers plan bill to make voting easier for New Yorkers

The first thing state lawmakers plan to tackle when they are back in Albany on Monday is changing the way New Yorkers vote.
NewsChannel 13 spoke with Assemblyman John McDonald and Senator Neil Breslin on Thursday morning. Both expect to vote on a bill package Monday that would make it easier for New Yorkers to vote in elections.
They expect bills that would allow early voting, and also one that would move up the state primary to happen at the same time as the federal primary. That would mean you could vote for both state lawmakers and congressmen in June, instead of in two different primaries like it's set up now. McDonald says it could save millions of dollars.
Democrats will be dusting off bills like these, and voting on them all session long, now that they have power in both houses.
