Troy Mayor Patrick Madden has vetoed a resolution passed by the City Council Thursday night on whether Troy should be become a Sanctuary City.
The vote was four to three, in favor of designating Troy a Sanctuary City.
Mayor Madden has said that Sanctuary City status develops a false sense of security for undocumented immigrants under a non-legally binding resolution.
NewsChannel 13 showed you the fireworks at the council meeting Thursday evening as residents and council members debated the issue.
Before the vote, Council President Carmella Mantello tried to block it, challenging its legality.
