Two town of Greenfield Animal Control officers tell NewsChannel 13 a German Shepherd - according to them, about 100-pound dog, was being held at the Saratoga County Animal Shelter.

The 58-year-old woman was interacting with one of her dogs, a German Shepherd outside her home, when police say the dog began to attack her.

This unprovoked attack resulted in serious injuries to the owner's arms and legs, so much so that she had to be flown by helicopter to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

The two female animal control officers who secured the dog say it was a very strong dog.

What happens next to it is up to the owner.

The woman's identity is not being released at this time, pending family notification.
