The trial against the Moreau woman accused of setting fire to her own apartment, while her child was inside, is scheduled to start on Monday.

Melissa LaPoint is accused of starting a fire at her Sand Hill Drive apartment with her child inside, back in August of 2018.

In January, she turned down an offer from the district attorney that would send her to prison for 5.5 years.

If convicted at trial, LaPoint faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
