Crews were out in Troy, searching for evidence that might lead them to the missing boy or the person responsible for his death.

State police investigators searched 40 acres of a wooded preserve for clues related to Jaliek’s disappearance and likely homicide.

He was reported missing in November 2007 and state police say all signs point to Jaliek’s adoptive father, Stephen Kerr.

Over the past 14.5 years, police have searched dozens of places throughout the region and followed hundreds of leads. This one led them to a wooded area off Thompson Street in Troy.

State Police Captain Rob Appleton wouldn’t say exactly where the lead came from, but says with time, sometimes people feel more free to offer information.

The captain says their search Wednesday didn’t turn up evidence.
