Repairs to a Northway overpass in Saratoga County are expected to take about three weeks.
The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says at least one southbound lane would reopen Wednesday night.
However, Exit 9 east and west from the southbound side of the Northway will remain closed while those repairs are made.
It's part of a situation that began around 4:30 Wednesday morning.
A truck was towing a boom lift on a trailer, when the lift hit the 14 feet, 4 inch overpass at Sitterly Road near Exit 9.
Three out of five of the steel beams underneath the Sitterly Road Bridge were damaged.
All three southbound lanes of the Northway were shut down all-day on Wednesday.
The heavily traveled bridge that connects Clifton Park to Halfmoon was also shut down.
All I-87 S/B lanes remain closed at ex 10, ex 10 and 11 S/B on-ramps also closed. Sitterly Rd overpass (which was struck) is closed. Traffic continues to be diverted off ex 10. The roads will remain closed until further notice and NYSP is advising travelers to avoid the area. pic.twitter.com/6UPJfKZcd6— NewYorkStatePolice (@nyspolice) April 14, 2021
