There's a new push in Saratoga County to get young high school girls into local government to show them they too can make a difference in public service.

Saratoga County launched the Saratoga County Women in Government Leadership Program. It will run six weeks. The idea is to provide teens with tools, so they get involved in all government positions.

The New York State Association of Counties Women's Leadership Council will work with the county on the program.

The county website will have a link to the application for the program starting Monday, April 26. You can either print it and mail it in or email it.

There are eight female governors in the United States. Only 18 senators are women in New York, while the state Assembly has 48 female members.
