Schenectady man arrested after leading police on chase

A Schenectady man has been arrested after refusing to stop for police while in a stolen vehicle.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office says on Thursday at 1:45 a.m., a Sheriff’s patrol attempted to make a vehicle stop for speeding on Plank Road in the Town of Clifton Park.

The driver Anthony Johnson, 20, refused to stop which initiated a pursuit that ended on Peek Street in Schenectady.

Johnson was arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the 3rd degree (class D felony), unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle (class A misdemeanor), reckless driving (unclassified misdemeanor), and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions.

Johnson was driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of the City of Albany. His passenger fled the vehicle in Schenectady and was not apprehended.

Johnson was arraigned in the Town of Moreau and released on his own recognizance pending further action.
