Laura Henzel received plenty of warm birthday wishes from friends and co-workers, despite the social distancing we’re all learning to live with.
Henzel is a second-grade teacher at Tanglewood Elementary School in South Glens Falls. Like many people, she’s working from home and was getting ready for an online meeting when a friend dropped off a cake for her birthday at the edge of her driveway.
When Henzel went out to pick up the cake, she was met with a parade of cars full of people waving and honking their horns for her birthday. Some even got out to leave treats at the end of her driveway -- including toilet paper, rubber gloves, and hand sanitizer.
Henzel says it warned her heart to see how a community can come together to spread some good cheer.
