SCHENECTADY - Big yellow letters spelling out “BLACK LIVES MATTER” were painted in front of Schenectady City Hall on Tuesday.

City workers spent the day doing the painting across Jay Street.

Mayor Gary McCarthy says it took time to come up with the design and find the right location.

There have been two peaceful protests in Schenectady since the death of George Floyd.
