A State of Emergency was declared in Schenectady beginning Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
It will remain in effect until June 5 at 7:00 p.m.
There is a curfew beginning at 7:00 p.m. on these days, and ending at 6:00 a.m. the following day.
People are prohibited from being on the city's streets or driving in the city, unless for essential reasons, during the curfew times.
According to the mayor's office, the State of Emergency was made to preserve the security, well-being and health of residents.
The State of Emergency comes after a protest was held in the city Sunday afternoon.
