Glenville police are sounding the alarm about a brazen in-person scam targeting seniors.

They say someone on the phone pretends to be a court or bail bondsman, and needs bail money for a relative who is under arrest.

A person then goes to the victim's home to collect the money.

Police say one victim lost $15,000. Another victim lost $20,000.

Police say similar scams have involved a story about car repairs or car accidents.

If you get a call like this, police say to ask for a call back number, and call your relative in question or the local police department.
