Schenectady County has reached settlements with five different companies accused of contributing to the area's opioid pandemic.
The companies are: Allergan, McKesson, Cardinal Health, AmerisourceBergen and Johnson & Johnson.
Under the agreement, the county is expected to receive just over $4 million.
In June 2017, Schenectady County joined a number of other jurisdictions throughout the county to take legal action against pharmaceutical companies and distributors.
Three quarters of the money received will be spent on specific opioid-related expenses.
