The Schenectady police officer who was seen on camera pinning a man to the ground back in July will be suspended for six days without pay.
Officer Brian Pommer just reached a settlement with the department.
He will also undergo additional field training for seven workdays.
Pommer was seen on video, pinning down a man during an arrest over the summer. That man, Yugeshwar Gaindarpersaud was accused of slashing a neighbor’s tires.
Body camera footage of the arrest led to protests in the city.
The criminal mischief charge against Gaindarpersaud was dropped late last month. He’s also facing a charge of resisting arrest, which will be dismissed in six months if he stays out of trouble.
Officer Pommer's suspension is for violating department policies including not examining for evidence at the scene, and for using inappropriate language while on duty.
