Son recalls escaping Schoharie fire that killed his mom

A man who survived a deadly Schoharie fire that killed his mom is speaking to NewsChannel 13 exclusively.
Trent Oliver says a loud noise woke him up around 4 a.m. the morning of September 29.
He stayed at the home at 385 Main Street, helping to take care of Nancy Oliver, who was in declining health.
"I made it down the hallway stairs, opened the hallway door to where my mom was, and the fire knocked me back into the hallway. Apparently it had been going that long. I couldn’t even get in the room," said Trent.
He escaped with just what he was wearing.
Nancy Oliver was 74 years old.
Trent’s father was not home at the time. He was in the hospital recovering from an infection.
Donations have been pouring in to help them.
Six weeks since that fire, there’s still a pile of rubble.
