ALBANY - As the weather warms up, the city of Albany is taking some added measures to stop people from gathering in groups.

Signs have been posted at city parks and playgrounds. However, after repeated calls about people continuing to play basketball, the Department of Recreation was out on Tuesday closing down courts.

More than 40 nets and rims across Albany are now tied up and blocked off. That includes the basketball courts at the corner of Madison and Ontario.

The playground at Madison Park is closed.

There are signs around Albany reinforcing the message to stay home and stay safe.

Hear Mayor Kathy Sheehan discuss why these measures are so important, by watching the video of the story.
