The Albany Empire will have more competition when they return to the field.

NewsChannel 13 has learned that the Arena Football League will have two new teams for 2019. The AFL grows from four to six teams after its successful return to the Capital Region last season for the first time since 1999.

The names of the two cities have not been announced yet because the contracts have not been signed.

The speculation for months has been that Atlantic City will get an AFL team, but that has not been confirmed.

The Albany Empire drew close to 10,000 fans per game in 2018 at the Times Union Center.
