Hofburg out; King Zachary puts in final work ahead of Travers Stakes

Less than a week before the Travers Stakes, Bill Mott announced that Hofburg will not run because of a fever.  Meanwhile, a handful of other entries put in their final works ahead of Saturday including King Zachary.  The Curlin colt, who is trained by Dale Romans, breezed five furlongs in a bullet 59.66 seconds over the main track on Sunday morning.  In seven career starts, King Zachary has only finished off the board twice... in the Wood Memorial and the Indiana Derby.  Romans noticed something that those two races had in common... his horse had been shipped in just before both of those races.
