A story NewsChannel 13 has been reporting since November is now official.

The New York Racing Association confirms the Saratoga Race Course will open earlier this year.

This year's meet will begin on Thursday, July 11. It will run the traditional 40 days through Labor Day.

New this year, the track will be dark on Monday and Tuesday.

NewsChannel 13's Mark Mulholland and Chris Onorato exclusively reported on November 29 that NYRA leadership was considering the change.

NYRA blames the shift on arena construction at Belmont Park.
